Four Best Methods to find a laptop serial number

Well, first and foremost, it is always recommended to check the system service tag on the rare side of your system. The system service tag is directly printed on the laptop’s plastic, as seen in the above image.

It is usually near the air vent or on the battery, where you can find them quite simply without opening the laptop battery cover.

In some of the old system models, the system tag is mentioned under the battery cover, where you can find them.

However, nowadays, almost all the vendors, including online and online, mention the system tag on the invoice.

2. Using system command prompt

The second most straightforward method to find the laptop service tag is by using the command prompt. To find the system service tag with the help of a command prompt, you have to follow two simple steps.

Step 1. Open the Windows search option, which is available at your right side of the system, and type in ‘CMD.’ Then, right-click on the CMD and select ‘Run as administrator.’

So these are the steps from which you can find the laptop serial number with the help of the command prompt.

There are some situations where you might encounter an error like: ‘To be filled by O.E.M’, post mentioning the command.

If you got the error, that means the system provider has not specified the service tag correctly.

However, these are the rare scenarios that mainly occur post motherboard replacement, and it’s always recommended to recheck your system service tag post motherboard replacement.

3. With the help of Powershell

The third method to find the laptop service tag is by using Powershell. You have to follow a few simple steps to find the system service tag.

Similar to the above, you also have to follow two steps to find out the tag.

Step 1. Open the Windows search option, which is available at your right side of the system, and type in ‘PowerShell.’ Then, right-click on the PowerShell and select ‘Run as administrator.’

4. On Bios Page

So the fourth and the last method to find your system service tag is from the BIOS page. To enter into the BIOS page, you have to power on your system and Tap on the F12 key.

Note: To launch the BIOS page, the keys might be different in other brands of laptops.

Once you enter the BIOS page, you will get the service tag under the Main section.

However, if you are getting a different interface of the BIOS page, as shown in the above picture, you can find the Service Tag option Under maintenance from the list that is present on your left side.

If you are entirely new to the Laptop, I recommend you use the above three options to find your system service tag, as a slight change in BIOS can cause issues with your computer.
