Check for the Drivers

Most of the time, mistakenly or unknowingly, we delete or uninstall our essential files that might cause the issue.

So it’s always recommended to check for the sound drivers before disturbing any other settings, and to do this, follow the below steps.

Step 1:

Move your cursor to the left side over the windows Icon and press the right-click. You will get the device manager option as shown in the below options. Click on the same.

Step 2:

Next, you have to click on the Audio input and output radio button to open this option. Once it opens right -click on Speaker/Headphone(Realtek(R) Audio)

Step 3:

The next step you will get is to update the driver. Click on the update button. So if any pending driver is there, it automatically updates for you.

So, these are the first section of three-step that you can try and check. If your issue is not resolved, the second option is to uninstall and re-install all the audio drives.

Uninstall and Install the Drivers

In this second section of How to fix dell earphones not working problem, you have to open the device manager option.

Once you open the device manager.

Step 1:

Click on View and then Show hidden devices.

Once you are done, you will get the two sections of Audio drivers. One is Audio Input and output, and another is Sound, Video and game controllers.

Now here, you have to uninstall each and every driver. Yes, you read it right. Delete all the drivers one by one.

Put your system service tag on the section shown below.

Step 4:

Once you get your product names with product details like product model name and a warranty type, you have to scroll a little and select the Drivers & Download section.

Click on the category section and select the audio driver option. In my case, only one audio driver is available.

Some of the models have two, so download bot the drivers if you are getting that.

Step 5:

Once you get the driver details, you have to click on the Download option. Once the file is getting download, you have to install them.

So these are the two different solutions if your Dell laptop headphone jack not working. For me uninstalling & Installing the drivers worked. I hope it will fix the issue with your laptop as well.

To download and check the BIOS option for your system, use the above Dell official website and in place of the Audio driver, select BIO in the category section.
